Michal (she/her) is an regional artist, creator, writer, entertainer, and theatre maker. She describes herself as professional creative and freelance hot mess, and is currently based on Barngarla land in Whyalla SA.

Michal is passionate about creating meaningful arts experiences for young people and is a lover of fun, colour, and sparkles. Her interests and experience lie within devised theatre, workshop facilitation, and independent festival curation and programming. She is a passionate crafter and mess maker. Michal is a published playwright, and has written and produced many plays for and about young people with a focus on regional stories.

Michal may have got her start in the arts writing fan fiction from her bedroom in the early 2010’s, but her work has grown with her. In 2020 Michal wrote for the State Theatre Company of South Australia’s Ruby Award Winning project, Decameron 2.0, and has taken part in 3 artists residencies - Writing Places (Carclew and Country Arts SA, 2019), and the inaugural SA Regional Artists Retreat (Country Arts SA and Performing Lines, 2021). In 2021 Michal developed an original immersive theatre work with a group of young people which toured to the Adelaide Fringe, and has been continuing to develop similar work over the last two years. You can still catch her writing stories in her bedroom, as Michal is slowly tapping away on her first novel.

Michal has a particular passion for creating innovative and experimental work and exploring the art of play. She believes strongly in the transformative power of the arts.

One of Michal’s proudest achievements is her wardrobe, a creative explosion of rainbow garments, fairy wings, sparkly boots, costumes, and wearable creations. She can often be found dressed like an overgrown toddler to do her grocery shopping, or wearing a ball gown to the office. If you ever lose her it is said that she can be found by following the trail of glitter she leaves behind.
